These Thistle Hill + The Modern Bridal Portraits were a blast to shoot! The places we shot are great locations but Samantha is also a fun person to be around. She is laid back and possesses maturity beyond her years. We were able to talk about a number of topics during our session which made it that much more fun! I’m so excited to finally be able to post Samantha’s bridal portraits! Congratulations to her and Alex on their December 27th wedding!
For her bridal portraits, Samantha wanted a mixture of traditional and modern. We went to the historic Thistle Hill for the first part of the portraits. The house is absolutely stunning and a perfect place for the traditional feel that Samantha was looking for. Thistle Hill was built in 1904 and has a Grand Double staircase, one of few left in the United States. We absolutely made use of this unique feature! The furnishing and finishes of the house are true to the early 1900s and provided us with a beautiful backdrop for photographs. We spent time in the foyer and went around to a number of the first floor parlors. On our way off the property, we found some neat spots to snap a couple of shots as well! We then headed to the The Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth! This location has a number of elements that Samantha wanted to incorporate in her session as she has a passion for modern art and architecture. We went to The Vortex sculpture by Richard Serra and also photographed in front of the aged, notched concrete walls. We also hit the iconic Conjoined tree sculpture by Roxy Paine in the back of the museum. I absolutely loved the fact that Samantha wanted to mix traditional and modern for her bridal session. It made for a unique session that I was so happy to be a part of!
