As it always is, Marty Leonard Chapel is breathtaking. Rain, shine or snow, it’s architectural beauty stands out in any climate. The rain held out for us just long enough on Lora and John’s wedding day. It started to rain just as we were leaving after the ceremony. Lora and John chose their ceremony and reception venues very carefully as they wanted their friends and family to feel welcome and at home for their wedding. Marty Leonard Chapel provided a close and intimate environment for their guests to watch them exchange vows and enter into marriage. The couple saw each other before the ceremony took place at their first look. It was such a sweet first look! As John turned around to see Lora for the first time on their wedding day, his jaw literally dropped. Lora’s smile was radiant. The ceremony was beautiful! After the ceremony, the couple and I spent some time inside and outside the chapel for romantics!
The Reata Restaurant’s rooftop set a wonderful scene for the wedding reception. The Dome was used as the eating and mingling space and the terrace was used for the cake cutting, toasts and some dancing! The wedding was infused with Korean and Irish touches as Lora is half Korean and Irish and John is half Irish. Shortly before the ceremony, John gave Lora a horseshoe on a ribbon and “Lucky in Love” was inscripted on the bottom. The horseshoe was on display at the reception. The table numbers were not numbers at all but identifying markers such as locations or groupings of their friends and family, such as Barrett Clan or Seoul-Ville. Each centerpiece included moss, branches and origami. The cake toppers were hand painted Kokeshi dolls painted in the likeness of Lora and John. The female Kokeshi doll is wearing traditional Korean garb while the male Kokeshi doll is dressed in a kilt. I used these adorable dolls for the ring shot. Lora’s ring is a beautiful deep blue sapphire and John’s wedding band is a traditional Claddagh Irish ring in silver. I just loved these personal touches to Lora and John’s wedding! As their parting gifts, they gave their guests bokjumeoni, a good-luck bag from Korea. Inside each bag was an Irish blessing. Lora and John made their exit out of the Reata to silver metallic streamers!
